Richard Wiley was recently honoured by the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists. Following his passion for writing on all things motoring and motorsport related over several decades, the honour of Fellow of the Guild was bestowed on Wiley for his contribution to motor journalism, and to the Guild.
In its 55-year history, only 32 appointments to Fellow have been awarded by the Guild, but it is the first time this honour has been bestowed upon a Zimbabwean. This is the highest recognition offered by the Guild which considers such factors as the enhancement of the standard of motoring journalism, the promotion of road safety in all forms of communications, and the improvement of the relationship between motoring journalists and their audiences. Fellowship of the SAGMJ is an honour bestowed on a Member who has shown over many years, an ongoing interest in Guild affairs, upheld the objectives of the Guild and been a contributor to the Guild both in person and as a journalist, always demonstrating high levels of integrity.
